It is argued that tea consumption is beneficial to health by containing antioxidants, catechins, polyphenols, etc.
Researchers at the University of Newcastle (New South Wales, Australia) recommend heating a cup of tea in the microwave oven to activate all beneficial properties of this drink, reports ABC News .
According to Dr. Quan Vuong, the microwave activates 80% of the compounds of caffeine, theanine and polyphenols present in tea, either in leaves or sachets. To obtain these benefits Vuong recommends heating a cup of tea for 30 seconds at a medium power, and then let it stand for one minute before consuming.
In addition to ‘awakening’ the organic molecules present in green and black tea, the scientist claims that with this procedure the drink takes on a more intense flavor.
Theanine is an amino acid that has psychoactive stimulating properties with a reducing effect on physical and mental tension, improved cognition and mood. While polyphenols are antioxidants that help prevent degenerative diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular conditions.
‘What do you say about, Quan Vuong?’
However, Vuong’s recommendations have caused much controversy among Internet users, who consider that electromagnetic waves absorbed by food when heated in a microwave harm health.
